This Monday I bought some foreign books written in English at the Book Off in Shirokanedai. This time was the first visit to Shirokanedai. I saw some foreigners speak in English in front of bookshelves in the store. I noticed that there were many foreigners there.

Book Off group doesn't deal with foreign books in their stores in principle but more than only ten stores in the country deals with foreign books, for example, stores in Kichijoji, Shibuya, Ogikubo, etc. The store in Shirokanedai had so many English books. Roughly speaking, one third of all the books in the store were English.

Hybrid vehicle, electric vehicle, energy-saving household appliance, solar power generation, biofuel and so on.”Earth-friendly eco-business” has developed in the United States, the European Union etc.

This “eco boom” is now designed because U.S. Japan, and E.U. nations including German, France and so on commit to the “eco-business industry” as the next-generation industry to rebuild their own economies and get revival measure.

Each government invests huge funds or taxes in its industries which have developed ecotechnological products, including vehicle, electric manufacturer, to create the industry which win the competition between businesses in developed countries. This is called a “Green New Deal”, which combines both an “economic policy” and a “environmental policy”.

Have you heard the word “genetically modified organism”? Actually there are more and more genetically modified crops these days. Many types of crops were manufactured. For example, a kind of crop can be stably supplied because of its resistance to diseases, another is resistant to herbicides, the other makes a poison which kills vermin, and so on.

However, nearly all the genetically modified crops are cultivated and sailed in the market without examination of the physical safety and the influence on existing natural plants and ecosystems.

こんにちは、カズです。このごろは朝晩の寒さが厳しいものとなってきました。今日も朝お腹が痛くなって動けませんでした……インフルエンザのようなこわい病気もありますから、身体には気遣っていかないといけませんね。

さて、今日はちょっと日本の教育について少し提案を出したいと思います。教養のときに奈須正裕（上智大学）の「現代教育論」という科目を履修したことがあります（優がつきました）。この科目はレポートひとつ提出するだけでOKで、出席もとらないという、非常に単位がつきやすい科目として駒場でも知られていました。確か履修人数が1000人を越えていたと思います。

ですが、逆評定によれば優をとるのは案外難しいようで、レポートには創意工夫が求められるというものでした。そのレポートの題材が「理想の学校」でした。これは中学・高校の６年間の中等教育の中で、「理想の学校をあなたなりに」考えて、それを「学校案内あるいはルポの形式」でまとめ、レポートとして提出する、というものでした。

ここでいう「理想の学校」とは、カリキュラムすなわち教育の内容だけでなく、校舎やその他設備といった環境までも考えて作り上げてよいというものです。さらに、現行の６・３・３・４年制に囚われる必要もなく、年制も（合計を変えないなら配分としては）自由に変えてよいというものでした。おそらくいまの駒場生もまったく同じ内容でレポートを書かされていることでしょう。

奈須先生は非常にトークがおもしろく、大学教員の本音をズバズバと喋るので、意外にも相当数の学生が授業に出席していました。まあ、後半はそうでもなかったのですが。

それで、今回は当時とは「私の理想の学校」が変化したため、ここにちょっとアイデアを書き留めておこうかな、と思った次第です。環境面については考えず、いまはカリキュラム内容だけを考えます。

Global economics was confused and there are more and more poverty all over the world since Riemann Brothers bankrupted last year. Did poverty come after collation of Riemann? The answer is No. Poor economics had increased before that.

How is the image of poverty? You may picture the people who tolerate starvation in Africa. You may also think there is no poverty in America. Actually I believed that too. But the America has most poverty in the world. The fact may surprise you. The America pictured by the media has an image where people enjoy the rich life. However the American social structure is just a lopsided structure in which a part of the wealthy has about 60 % of the whole wealth. Now, I will show you the real lives of some workers living in America.
